TV Entertainment (Now and Then)

Kids nowadays have a lot of options in TV programs. There are quite a few stations dedicated to kids' stuff. Some are really good and healthy ( like TreeHouse ) which is channel 65 in Toronto.

I am Iranian , though I left Iran about 4 years ago. I am not sure about now, but at when I was a kid there were only two channels, both governmental. If I remember correctly only one of them had a one-hour daily program for children. This included everything and for all ages. There were many cartoons, mostly from Japan or China, whose characters had lost their parents and were looking for them. I don't think any of the characters had a complete set of parents( Either of them or both were missing). Some were interesing though. I loved Pink Panther very much. All of the non-Persian programs were ( and still are) translated into Persian beforehand and so the contact of children with foreign languages remains at minimum until they go to secondary school. Today I also remembered Deputy of Sheriff which was a dog and was often told: "You have a golden heart behind your tin star." Good old times...
